Write for Us at Read Your Own Chart
Share your story. Help someone else read theirs.
Have you ever left a doctor’s appointment with more questions than answers? Discovered something in your own medical records that nobody bothered to explain? Fought to be believed, to be heard, or to simply get the care you were entitled to?
We want to hear from you!
Read Your Own Chart publishes first-person stories, patient advocacy insights, and practical guides from people who have navigated the medical system — and lived to tell about it honestly.
How It Works
Read Your Own Chart welcomes guest contributors who have something real to say about the patient experience. Instead of direct payments, each contributor may include one personal affiliate link placed near the top of their article. When a reader clicks that link, any resulting commission goes directly to the contributor through their own affiliate account.
An editor’s affiliate link may also appear lower in the article, usually in a related or closing section. This helps support the site’s upkeep and rewards the editorial team for reviewing and formatting each post.
What You Keep
You’ll retain copyright ownership of your written work. Your name will appear as the credited author, and you can share or republish excerpts elsewhere if you wish — just include a short note linking back to the original post on Read Your Own Chart.
If your article is not accepted for publication within 30 days, you’re free to publish it anywhere else, and Read Your Own Chart will have no claim to it.
What We Keep
By submitting, you grant Read Your Own Chart (an Intrinsic Vicissitude LLC property) a permanent, non-exclusive, irrevocable right to publish, edit, display, and promote your accepted content on our website, social channels, newsletters, and archives. This ensures your article remains live and discoverable for as long as the site exists.
Editorial Review
All submissions go through editorial review before publication is approved. If your article is accepted, minor edits may be made for clarity, grammar, tone, or formatting. Submission alone does not guarantee publication.
By submitting, you acknowledge that if your article is accepted and published, you grant Read Your Own Chart by Intrinsic Vicissitude a permanent, non-exclusive right to display, promote, and maintain the edited version on our platforms.
Guidelines
- Articles must be original and based on your real experience (no AI-generated or copied material)
- Keep posts between 600–1,000 words; practical takeaways or personal reflections are both welcome
- One affiliate link allowed per post; include standard FTC disclosure text
- You may include one short bio with a link to your own site, blog, or social profile
- Keep it honest — this is not the place for promotional content dressed up as a patient story
Ready to Contribute?

If you didn’t get the information you needed when you needed it. Maybe someone else is in that waiting room right now, sitting exactly where you sat. Write it down. We’ll help get it in front of them.
